Uma Thurman - Uma Thurman Stalker Convicted By New York Jury

A former mental patient has been convicted of stalking and harassing Uma Thurman.

Jack Jordan, 37, had been charged with stalking and aggravated harassment after he reportedly sent the actress threatening letters and emails and attempted to break into her trailer on a film shoot.

He is also said to have sent her a note bearing the line "My hands should be on your body at all times" and claimed he and the actress were "pre-destined" to be together.

The Kill Bill star had revealed her intense distress at Jordan's actions while testifying in the Manhattan supreme court in New York City last week, the first occasion on which she had come face to face with her alleged stalker.

He is said to have threatened to kill himself unless he was permitted to see her, as well as sending threatening emails to her family.

And when she learned that Jordan had turned up at the home in Greenwich Village, New York, which she shares with her two children, the actress said she was "frightened for the lives of my children and myself".

George Vomvolakis, Jordan's defence lawyer, said his client's behaviour was admittedly creepy and obsessive, but denied that he had criminal intent.

"He's trying to get to the woman he loves - although it's an obsession - in the hope that she will love him back," Mr Vomvolakis said in his closing argument according to the Associated Press news agency.

"Jack Jordan is not charged with obsession. Obsession is not a crime."

Assistant district attorney Jessica Taub had denied Mr Vomvolakis' claims, saying: "This isn't about love for Uma Thurman.

"This is about self-absorption," she argued.

He faces up to a year in jail.
